How to Study Your Bible Online Inductive Bible Study | Week 10

Welcome back to our online Inductive Bible study at the Women's Bible Café. This is our last week of “How to Study Your Bible.” Congratulations on completing the study!! You will be blessed immensely for your commitment and the effort you put into this study. For those of you who are still working through these lessons, let me encourage you to keep going until you complete the study.

Good News!! All ten of the weekly lessons will still be posted in the Inductive Studies chat room. I will continue to monitor your responses to the assignments and discussion questions and answer any questions you may have throughout the summer months. So please hang in there and finish strong!

This week we will study Structuring. This is a handy optional Bible study exercise to do as you complete your observations on a book of the Bible you are studying. It’s actually fun to do this in a journal or notebook. It is similar to outlining that we studied in Week 8. However, in structuring, the entire text is displayed word-for-word. For example, you would write Jude 1:1 like this in structuring:

1:1

Jude

a bond-servant of Jesus Christ

and

brother of James

To those who are the called

beloved in God the Father

and

kept for Jesus Christ

At first glance, we see who Jude is and who he is writing to. It’s just written in a structured format to give you a visual so you can see the logical flow of thought in a passage.

Kay Arthur writes:

“The process of structuring is only a tool and not the goal. It’s simply one of the ways you can discover truth for yourself.”

Our daily reading lessons this week includes:

  • Chapter 17: Structuring
  • The book of Jude

ASSIGNMENT FOR THE WEEK:

  • Begin your Bible study by praying and asking the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth and to open your mind and heart for understanding His Holy Word.
  • Read Chapter 17 in How to Study Your Bible.
  • Structure the book of Jude word-for-word in a journal or notebook.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS FOR THIS WEEK (answer in your small group or post your answers here):

  1. How can structuring a book of the Bible help you in your daily Bible study? What insights did you gain when you structured the book of Jude?
  2. What did you enjoy most about “How to Study Your Bible?”  Would you recommend this study to a friend? Why or why not?
  3. Would you be interested in future Inductive Bible studies? Why or why not?
