वृक्षासन

हे आसन पूर्णस्थितीत आल्यावर वृक्षाप्रमाणे दिसतं. मुलांची एकाग्रता वाढते तसंच या आसनामुळे संपूर्ण शरीराला ताण मिळत असल्याने शरीर लवचिक होतं. म्हणूनच आसन अतिशय फायदेशीर आहे.

वृक्षासन या नावातच या आसनाचं वैशिष्ट सामावलं आहे. या आसनात शरीराचा आकार झाडाप्रमाणे दिसतो. तसं बघायला गेलं तर हे कठीण, चित्तवेधक आणि फायदेशीर आसन आहे.

आसनस्थिती
सर्वप्रथम सरळ आणि ताठ उभे राहावे. आता डावा पाय गुडघ्यात दुमडून उजव्या पायाच्या जांघेत (मांडीवर किंवा iner thigh) ठेवावा. पूर्ण शरीराचा तोल हा एका पायावर येतो. तोल सांभाळण्याचा प्रयत्न करावा. आता शरीराच्या बाजूने दोन्ही हात कानालगत वर आणावे आणि नंतर पूर्ण हाताला ताण द्यावा. हात दोन्ही ताठ असावेत. या स्थितीत दहा सेकंद थांबावं. आसन सोडताना हातांना खाली आणावं आणि एका हाताच्या साहाय्याने पायाला खाली ठेवावं. थोडा वेळ थांबावं. आता हेच आसन दुस-या पायाने करावं. हे आसन दोन ते तीन वेळा करावं.

श्वास
श्वास घेताना डावा पाय गुडघ्यात दुमडून उजव्या पायावर ठेवावा आणि श्वास सोडताना दोन्ही हात डोक्याच्या वर आणावेत. आसनस्थितीत असताना नेहमीप्रमाणे श्वासोच्छ्वास सुरू असावा.

आसन करताना घ्यायची काळजी
हे आसन सुरू करण्यापूर्वी नवशिक्यांनी दीर्घ श्वास घेऊन एका जागी एकटक पाहावं मगच या आसनाची सुरुवात करावी. या आसनात सुरुवातीला तोल जमणार नाही. शरीराचा तोल सांभाळणं अवघड जात असेल तर भिंतीचा आधार घ्यावा. या आसनात दोन्ही हात वर असताना तोल सांभाळला जात नसेल तुम्ही दोन्ही हात नमस्काराच्या स्थितीत छातीजवळ ठेवूनही करू शकता. आसन सोडताना घाई करू नये. नवशिक्यांना सुरुवातीला पाय जांघेत आणणं जमणार नाही. अशा वेळी त्यांनी पाय गुडघ्याच्या वर ठेवणं चांगलं राहिल. मात्र गुडघ्यावर ठेवू नका.

फायदे
या आसनामुळे शरीराच्या प्रत्येक भागाला पुरेसा व्यायाम मिळतो.
या आसनाच्या नित्य सरावामुळे पाय लवचिक होतात.
मेंदूचं कार्य सुरळीत करण्यास मदत करतं.
हे आसन मुलांसाठी खूप फायदेशीर आहे. या आसनात एकाग्रता वाढते.
वजन कमी करण्यासही हे आसन फायदेशीर आहे.
हातापायाचा संधीवात असणा-यांसाठी, मणक्याचा किंवा सयाटिकचा त्रास असलेल्यांनी आणि ज्यांना अशक्तपणा आलेला आहे किंवा चक्कर येते अशा व्यक्तींसाठी उपयुक्त आहे.

सणासुदीच्या काळात आरोग्यावर ठेवा ताबा

श्रावणातले उपासतापास संपत नाहीत तोपर्यंत गणेशोत्सव सुरू होतो. आधी केलेले उपास आणि बाप्पाच्या निमित्ताने गोड पदार्थावर मारलेला ताव यामुळे आपल्या शरीरात अनेक बदल होतात. रक्तातील ग्लुकोजची पातळी वाढते. परिणामी आरोग्य बिघडतं. त्यामुळेच या सणासुदीच्या काळात तोंडावर ताबा ठेवलात तर आरोग्यही चांगलं राहील.

म्हणता म्हणता बाप्पाच्या विसर्जनाचा दिवस जवळ येऊ लागला आहे. काही जणांकडच्या बाप्पाचं एव्हाना विसर्जन झालं असेल. घरातच गणपती असल्यामुळे रोज काही ना काही गोडाधोडाचं घरात शिजत होतं आणि गणपतीला या गोड पदार्थाचा नैवेद्य दाखवला जात होता.

गणपतीच्या निमित्ताने आपली चांगलीच चंगळ होते असं म्हटलं तरी चालेल. बाप्पाचा आवडता नवेद्य म्हणजे उकडीचे मोदक.. या मोदकांचा तुम्ही चांगलाच फडशा पाडला असेल. ज्यांच्याकडे गणपती नसतो अशी मंडळीदेखील पहिल्या दिवशी उकडीचे मोदक आणि गौरीच्या दिवशी घरात पुरण पोळ्या करतात.

शिवाय या पाच दिवसांत गणपतीच्या निमित्ताने आपलं कित्येक ठिकाणी जाणं-येणं होतं. सार्वजनिक ठिकाणी आरतीला हजेरी लावली जाते. तिथेही भरपूर प्रसाद मिळतो. हा सगळा प्रसाद घरी घेऊन जाण्याऐवजी आपण तो पोटात ढकलण्यातच अधिक धन्यता मानतो. त्यातच भर पडते ती सत्यनारायण पूजेची.

कित्येक ठिकाणी सत्यनारायणाची पूजा घातली जाते. नुकतेच झालेले श्रावणातील उपास-तापास आणि गणेशोत्सवात खाल्लं जाणारं गोडधोड यामुळे एकंदरीत गणेशोत्सवात कितीही पथ्यं पाळायचा प्रयत्न केला तरी गोडधोड पदार्थ अन् फराळ पाहून तोंडाला पाणी सुटल्याशिवाय राहात नाही. पण या काळातच आपल्या रक्तातील ग्लुकोजची पातळी वाढते आणि हे आपल्या तितकंसं लक्षातदेखील येत नाही.

वजन वाढणे, चक्कर येणे किंवा अशक्तपणा अशी लक्षणं दिसायला लागली की मग आपल्याला आपली ग्लुकोजची पातळी वाढल्याचं लक्षात येतं. यामागे शरीराची नेहमीपेक्षा कमी हालचाल होणे, जास्त खाणे, वेळापत्रकात अचानक बदल होणे अशी अनंत कारणं असू शकतात. पण, खाण्या-पिण्यातील बदलाने, उपास करण्याने आरोग्याला अनेक धोके संभवू शकतात व त्यासाठी योग्य ती खबरदारी घेणं गरजेचे आहे.

श्रावण महिन्यात उपास केल्याने आध्यात्मिक पातळीवर लाभ मिळतातच, याशिवाय स्वत:वरचा ताबा वाढून आरोग्यही सुधारतं अशी श्रद्धा आहे. पण या महिन्यात उपास करताना मधुमेही आणि इतर जुनाट दुखण्यांनी त्रस्त असलेल्या रुग्णांनी मधुमेह व्यवस्थापनातील बारकावे समजून घेतले पाहिजेत.

एखाद् दुस-या वेळी रक्तातील ग्लुकोज वाढलं तर त्याने तुमच्या मधुमेहावर दीर्घकालीन परिणाम होत नाहीत. त्यामुळे लगेच काळजी करत बसू नका, पण तुमच्या आरोग्याला धोका पोहोचू नये म्हणून रक्तातील ग्लुकोज वाढू नये याकरिता जाणीवपूर्वक प्रयत्नदेखील करा. उपास करण्याने हायपोग्लिसेमिया किंवा हायपरग्लिसेमिया होऊ शकतो.

अनेक तास काही न खाता-पिता राहण्याने रक्तातील ग्लुकोजची पातळी कमी होते आणि हायपोग्लिसेमिया होतो आणि उपास सोडताना मिठाया आणि चरबीयुक्त पदार्थ खाल्ल्याने रक्तातील ग्लुकोजची पातळी अचानक वाढून हायपरग्लिसेमिया होतो. हायपोग्लिसेमिया आणि हायपरग्लिसेमियावर उपचार न केल्यास आरोग्यास हानी संभवते.

मधुमेहला नियंत्रणात ठेवताना आरोग्यदायी आहाराला अतिशय महत्त्व असते. हे पाहता तुम्हाला मधुमेह असेल तर उपास सोडताना आरोग्यदायी आहारावर भर द्यावा. आरोग्यदायी खाणं म्हणजे चरबीचं प्रमाण कमी असलेला, भरपूर भाज्या आणि फळांनी युक्त असलेला संतुलित आहार. उपास सोडताना चरबीयुक्त पदार्थ खाण्याऐवजी टोस्टसारखे लहान-सहान पदार्थ खावेत, एक वाडगाभर कडधान्य खाल्लेत किंवा पोहे/उपमा खाल्लात तर उत्तम! त्यामुळे उपासाच्या कालावधीमध्ये अचानक वाढणाऱ्या हायपोग्लिसेमिया आणि हायपरग्लिसेमियाला नियंत्रणात ठेवता येईल.

सणाच्या काळात लोकांना हटकून हायपरग्लिसेमिया होतो. याचं कारण शरीराची अजिबात हालचाल होत नाही आणि दुस-या बाजूला या दिवसांत गोडधोड पदार्थावर ताव मारला जातो. हायपरग्लिसेमियावर उपचार न झाल्यास रक्तवाहिन्या, किडणी, नस आणि डोळ्यांना हानी पोहोचू शकते. त्याची परिणती म्हणून रुग्ण बेशुद्ध पडून कोमातही जाऊ शकतो. रुग्णांनी नेहमी हायपरग्लिसेमियाच्या लक्षणांवर लक्ष ठेवून असावं. सारखी तहान लागणे, सारखे लघवीला जायला लागणे आणि अशक्तपणा येणे ही हायपरग्लिसेमियाची काही लक्षणे होत.

खालील सूचनांचा आवर्जून अवलंब करावा
उपास करत असाल तर, रात्री उशिराने जेवण करण्याऐजवी पहाटे काहीतरी खावं अथवा प्यावं. सकाळी सकाळीच खाल्ल्याने दिवसभर रक्तातील ग्लुकोजची पातळी राखण्यात आणि तुमच्या शरीरातील पाण्याची पातळी पुरेशी राहण्यात मदत होते.

विचारपूर्वक खाणं अतिशय महत्त्वाचे आहे. उपास सोडताना पिष्टमय पदार्थासोबत भाज्या, डाळी आणि मसूर असा आहार घ्यावा. पिष्टमय पदार्थामधून हळूहळू ऊर्जा मिळत जाते आणि दिवसभर कमी झालेली रक्तातील ग्लुकोजची पातळी नियंत्रित राखण्यात मदत होते. बासमती

राईस, गव्हाच्या चपात्या, ब्रेड किंवा मोड आलेली कडधान्य असे पिष्टमय पदार्थ खाणं केव्हाही चांगलं ठरतं.
साखर नसलेले द्रव पदार्थ प्यावेत. खासकरून पाणी भरपूर प्यावं
तुम्हाला मधुमेह असेल तर तळलेले खाणे, मिठाई आणि कॅलरीयुक्त पदार्थ खाणं टाळावं. त्यामुळे तुमचे वजन वाढतंच, शिवात तुमच्या रक्तातील ग्लुकोजची पातळीही कमी होते. पदार्थ शिजवताना वाफवणं, भाजणं, रोस्ट करणे आणि ग्रिलिंग अशा आरोग्यदायी पद्धतींचा अवलंब करावा. तूप, बटर यांचं सेवन टाळावं आणि खाण्यातील तेलाचे प्रमाण मर्यादितच असू द्यावं.
उपास असला तरी मधुमेही रुग्णाने योग्य वेळी योग्य त्या प्रमाणात डॉक्टरांनी सांगितल्याप्रमाणे औषधं आणि इन्शुलिनची इन्जेक्शने घेतलीच पाहिजेत.
