सणासुदीला तब्येत सांभाळा

आजपासून दीपावलीची सुरुवात झाली. नवीन कपडे घालून मित्रांसोबत फटाके लावून आणि मस्त खुसखुशीत फराळावर ताव मारणं सुरू असेल. धमाल, मजा-मस्ती, पण या दिवाळीत मजा-मस्तीबरोबर थोडीशी स्वत:चीदेखील काळजी घेतली तर ही दिवाळी तुम्हाला नक्कीच आनंदाची जाईल. या दिवसांत विशेषकरून अस्थमाच्या रुग्णांना खूप त्रास होतो. अशा रुग्णांनी आणि त्याचबरोबर आपण सगळ्यांनीच काय काळजी घ्यावी हे जाणून घेऊ या.

या दिवाळीच्या दिवसांत फटाक्यांवर कितीही बंदी आणली तरीही सध्या जोरदार फटाक्यांची आतषबाजी केली जाते. मात्र या फटाक्यांमुळे कानठळ्या तर बसतातच पण त्याचबरोबर त्यातून निघणाऱ्या कार्बन मोनोऑक्साइड, सल्फर डायऑक्साइडसारखे अनेक विषारी पदार्थ बाहेर पडत असतात. त्यामुळेच दिवाळीच्या आसपासचे दिवस अस्थमाच्या रुग्णांसाठी भयंकर ठरत असतात. कारण विषारी वायू श्वासोच्छ्वासावाटे फुप्फुसांपर्यंत पोहोचतात आणि त्यानंतर अ‍ॅलर्जीचे प्रकार सुरू होतात. परिणामी श्वास घ्यायला त्रास होतो.

अस्थमा हा असा आजार आहे जो हवेतील परागकण, धूळ, धूर, फटाके, अगरबत्ती किंवा धुपाचा गंध, आंबट पदार्थ, फळं, दही, लोणची, आइस्क्रीम किंवा आइस क्युब्स आदी कारणांमुळे अस्थमाचा त्रास होतो. याचप्रमाणे दिवाळीच्या सुमारास घरात होणारी साफसफाई, नव्या-जुन्या कपडयांचा गंध, ठरावीक पदार्थाची अ‍ॅलर्जी, परफ्यूम किंवा डिओ आणि याचबरोबर फटाक्यांचा धूर..

यामुळे अस्थमाच्या रुग्णांच्या तब्येतीवर गंभीर परिणाम दिसू लागतात. अशा विविध कारणांमुळे रुग्णांना श्वास घेणं कठीण होऊन बसतं. त्यामुळे त्यांना कधीही अ‍ॅटॅक येण्याची शक्यता वाढते. छातीत अखडणे, जीव घुसमटणे अशी विविध लक्षणं दिसतात. आपला श्वास थांबतो की काय असं त्यांना वाटायला लागतं. म्हणूनच फटाक्यांचा धूर या रुग्णांसाठी धोकादायक ठरू शकतो.

खरं म्हणजे अस्थमाचे रुग्ण दररोज औषधं घेतातच असं नाही. त्यांना भरपूर त्रास व्हायला लागतो तेव्हाच हे रुग्ण औषधांचा मारा करतात. हे रुग्ण सर्वसामान्यच दिसतात. त्यामुळे आपल्याला बरं वाटतंय तर आपण औषधं कशाला हवी किंवा आपण रोज औषधं घेतली तर आपल्याला त्याची सवय होईल, असा काहीसा भ्रम त्यांना सतत होत असतो.

म्हणून अस्थमाचे रुग्ण औषधं घेण्याचं टाळतात. वास्तविक पाहता त्यांनी दररोज औषधं घेतली किंवा इन्हेलरचा वापर केला तर इन्हेलरद्वारे ते औषध फुप्फुसांपर्यंत पोहोचतात आणि आपला असर दाखवतात. मात्र नियमित औषधांचा वापर न केलेल्यांमध्येच अ‍ॅटॅक येण्याची शक्यता अधिक असते. या दिवाळीच्या दिवसात अस्थमाच्या रुग्णांनी काय काळजी घ्यावी हे जाणून घेऊ या.

»  नियमित गोळ्यांचं सेवन करा.

»  फटाक्यांपासून, विशेषत: फटाक्यांच्या धुरापासून लांब राहा.

»  दिवाळीच्या दिवसांत खिडक्या-दरवाजे बंद ठेवा. म्हणजे धुराचा त्रास होणार नाही. घरात एक्झॉस्ट फॅन असेल तर दोन तासातून किमान पाच मिनिटं हा फॅन लावून ठेवावा. म्हणजे घरातली हवा खेळती राहील.

»  या रुग्णांनी दिवाळीपूर्वी डॉक्टरांचा सल्ला घेणं आवश्यक असतं. त्या त्रासाची डॉक्टरांकडून माहिती घेऊन त्याप्रमाणे औषधं घ्यावीत. म्हणजे अचानक उत्पन्न होणाऱ्या समस्यांना सामोरं जाण्याची क्षमता असते.

»  इन्हेलर, नेब्युलायझर सदैव जवळ ठेवावं. अधून मधून त्याचं सेवन करत राहावं.

»  प्रवास करताना तुमची औषधं सदैव जवळ बाळगा.

»  इन्हेलरचा योग्य वापर कसा करायचा हे डॉक्टरांना विचारून घ्यावा. फुप्फुसांमधली अशुद्ध हवा बाहेर कशी फेकायची आणि इन्हेलरची हवा अधिकाधिक फुप्फुसांपर्यंत कशी पोहोचवायची, याची पूर्ण माहिती करून घ्यावी. त्याप्रमाणे त्याचा वापर करावा.

»  अशा रुग्णांनी दिवाळीच्या एक आठवडा आधी आणि नंतर बाहेर पडताना अधिक काळजी घ्यावी. कारण या दिवसांतही फटाक्यांचा धूर सतावत असतो. शक्यतो बाहेर पडताना तोंडावर मास्क लावून फिरावं.

दिवाळीसाठी अन्य काही टिप्स -

»  आजकाल अनारकली ड्रेसची फॅशन आहे. मात्र फटाके फोडताना अनारकली किंवा सिंथेटिक, उडणारे, सैल ड्रेस घालू नयेत.

»  फटाक्यांच्या जवळ आसपास कुठेतरी पाण्याची बाटली आवश्य ठेवावी.

»  मुलांबरोबर फटाके उडवताना मोठयांनी आवश्य बरोबर राहावे.

»  रॉकेट किंवा हवेत उडणारे फटाके नेहमी मैदानातच लावावेत.

»  लायटिंगचं काम करताना सावधानी ठेवा. वायर टेस्ट करताना टेस्टर किंवा बल्बचा वापर करावा.

»  लायटिंगचं सामान सिलिंडरपासून लांबच ठेवावं.

»  काळजी घेऊनही आगीचा सामना करावा लागलाच तर प्रथम मुख्य स्वीच बंद करा. जवळच्या लाकडी दरवाजापाशी जा. ओलं ब्लँकेट निवडावं. घराच्या खिडक्या-दरवाजे उघडा.

»  कपडयांमध्ये आग लागली तर पटकन ते कपडे उतरवा. पण स्वत: करण्यापेक्षा हे काम दुस-याला करण्यास सांगावं.

»  एखादी व्यक्ती आगीच्या तडाख्यात आलीच तर तिला तुम्ही स्वत: काही औषधोपचार करण्यपेक्षा त्वरित डॉक्टरांकडे घेऊन जावं.

मधुमेह आणि मुख आरोग्य

रक्तशर्करेच्या पातळ्यांचे नियंत्रण नीट न केल्यास तुम्हाला हिरडयांचे आजार होण्याची खूप शक्यता असते. दातांची झीज, तोंड कोरडे होणे, तोंडात बुरशीजन्य पदार्थ जमा होणे यासारखे विकार होण्याची शक्यता असते. १४ नोव्हेंबर या जागतिक मधुमेह दिनाच्या निमित्ताने मधुमेहाचा आणि मुखाच्या आरोग्याचा संबंध जाणून घेऊ या.

मधुमेह हा एका विषासारखा आजार असून तो विविध अवयवांवर परिणाम करतो आणि आरोग्याचे इतर प्रश्नही त्यामुळे भेडसावतात. नंतरच्या टप्प्यांमध्ये हे आजार डोळे, मज्जाव्यवस्था, मूत्रपिंड आणि हृदय इत्यादींवर परिणाम करतात.

मधुमेह संसर्गाप्रती आपली प्रतिकारशक्ती कमी करतो आणि बरं होण्याच्या प्रक्रियेचा वेगही कमी करतो. तुम्हाला मधुमेह असल्यास तुम्हाला हिरडयांचा त्रास होण्याची शक्यता जास्त आहे. त्यामुळे आपल्याला रक्तशर्करेचं व्यवस्थापन करताना दात आणि हिरडयांची विशेष काळजी घेण्याची गरज असते.

दातांची झीज : आहारातील आणि शीतपेयांमधील स्टार्च व साखर या जीवाणूंच्या संपर्कात येतात, तेव्हा प्लाक नावाचा चिकट पडदा तुमच्या दातांवर तयार होतो. प्लाकमधील आम्लं तुमच्या दाताच्या पृष्ठभागावर हल्ला करतात (इनॅमल आणि डेंटिन). यामुळे कीड लागण्याची शक्यता असते.

कोरडे तोंड : कोरडे तोंड हे तुमच्या तोंडातील ग्रंथींमधून (लाळग्रंथी) निर्माण होणाऱ्या लाळेच्या प्रमाणातील घट झाल्यामुळे होते आणि तो सामान्यत: औषधांचा साईड इफेक्ट असतो.

बुरशीजन्य संसर्ग : तोंडाची जळजळ मधुमेह असलेल्या लोकांना संसर्गाचा सामना करण्यासाठी सतत अँटिबायोटिक्स घ्याव्या लागतात. त्यामुळे त्यांना तोंडात आणि जिभेवर बुरशीजन्य संसर्ग होण्याची शक्यता असते. ही बुरशी अनियंत्रित मधुमेह असलेल्या लोकांच्या लाळेतील साखरेच्या उच्च प्रमाणावर जगतात. त्यामुळे तुमचे तोंड आणि जीभ जळजळू शकते.

कीड तुम्हाला दंतक्षयामुळे कीड निर्माण होते. ती दाताच्या बाहेरील आवरण (ज्याला इनॅमल म्हणतात) आणि अंतर्गत आवरण (ज्याला डेंटिन म्हणतात) त्यावरही परिणाम करू शकते.

हिरडयांची सूज : ही जीभ, हिरडय़ा, ओठ किंवा गालांच्या आत होते. ते अल्सर्स म्हणून किंवा तोंडात लाल-पांढरे चट्टे म्हणून दिसू शकतात.

अल्सर्स : या सामान्यत: लहान, वेदनादायी फोडी असतात, ज्या तुमच्या तोंडात किंवा तुमच्या हिरडयांच्या तळाशी होऊ शकतात. त्यामुळे खाणे, पिणे आणि बोलणे वेदनादायी होऊ शकते.

चवीतील अडथळे : हा सर्वात मोठा चवीतील अडथळा आहे, जो टिकून राहतो. सामान्यत: तुमच्या तोंडात काहीही नसले तरीही नकोसे वाटते.

तुम्ही हे त्रास दूर करण्यासाठी बरंच काही करू शकता. त्यासाठी आपल्याला तोंड, दात आणि हिरडयांची नीट काळजी घेण्यापासून सुरुवात केली पाहिजे. त्याच्या काही टिप्स खालीलप्रमाणे आहेत

तुमचे तोंड कोरडे असल्यास ते अल्कोहोलमुक्त माऊथवॉशने खळबळून धुवा.

तुमच्या आहारात दूध, चीझ, चिकन इत्यादींचा समावेश करा. या आहारामुळे दाताच्या इनॅमलला कॅल्शियमचा पुरवठा करून त्याचे संरक्षण होते.

प्रत्येक आहारानंतर तुमचे दात स्वच्छ घासा. खाण्यानंतर ब्रिशगपूर्वी किमान अर्धा तास थांबून इनॅमलचे संरक्षण करा.
मऊ ब्रिसल्सचे टूथब्रश वापरा.
दिवसातून एकदा तरी फ्लॉस करा.
डेंचर्सचा वापर करत असल्यास ते रोज स्वच्छ करा. डेंचर्स लावून झोपू नका.
धूम्रपानाच्या सवयीवर नियंत्रण ठेवा.
दर सहा महिन्यांनी नियमित तपासणीसाठी दंतवैद्यकाला भेट द्या.
शक्य तितक्या नॉर्मल प्रमाणात रक्तशर्करेचे प्रमाण ठेवा.

चव वाढवण्यासाठी या बिया उपयोगी आहेतच, पण शरीराला फायदेशीरसुद्धा आहेत. मधुमेह असणा-यांना मेथीचा होणारा उपयोग हा सर्वश्रृत आहे. अशा या औषधी मेथीचे आणखी कोणते गुणधर्म आहेत हे जाणून घेऊयात.

»  मेथीची पानं ग्लासभर पाण्यात भिजवून ठेवावीत. ते पाणी दिवसा प्यावे. नियमितपणे असे केल्यास मधुमेहाने त्रस्त रुग्णांना फायदा होऊ शकतो.

» मेथीचा लाडू, भाजी, मेथीचा पराठा असे वेगवेगळे पदार्थ करत आहारात मेथीचा समावेश वाढवावा.

» मेथीचा लाडू दिवसातून एक तरी खावा. तो अंगदुखीवर गुणकारी आहे.

» रक्तशुद्धीसाठी मेथी उपायकारक आहे.

» कॉलेस्ट्रॉल कमी करते.
